Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz B\u00fcchel, a native of Beuel, has compiled a unique collection of historical postal items from Bonn on the right bank of the Rhine.<\/p>\n

On International Museum Day 2019, he donated them to the association in a ceremony and opened an exhibition showing a cross-section of his collection. Guest of honour district mayor Guido D\u00e9us and association chairman Carl Jakob Bachem expressed their gratitude for this rarity. Philatelist Marco M\u00fcller, curator of the exhibition, introduced the numerous audience to the exhibition.<\/p>\n

The collection of 630 postal items begins with the Thurn- und Taxissche Reichspost of the 18th century, when there were no stamps, and extends to the present day. There are 80 representative exhibits on display.<\/p>\n

The postal notes on the mail items make the mail items carried - letters, cards, telegrams, payment slips, etc. - individual testimonies to history. This also applies, of course, and here in a very special way, to such specimens that can be assigned exclusively to the Beuel post office location.<\/p>\n

Behind it are the postal events of Bonn on the right bank of the Rhine over three centuries - and provide important insights into the general events in Beuel and its region at the time.<\/p>\n

The exhibition is on view until the end of June, on the regular opening days Friday and Sunday between 3 and 6 pm.
